AnaStasia: A Parallel Lives Story

Seventeen-year-old Anastasia Lane aspires to be a professional artist.  She lives with her parents, hangs out with her friends, Chloe and Daphne, struggles through high school Chemistry and Physics, but, the rest of the time, Anastasia is consumed with capturing the colors and flowing images in her imagination, creating art.  When she learns of a competition for a prestigious scholarship to art school, Anastasia dedicates herself to composing a winning portfolio of work.

This is the story of one life, lived two different ways.

In one reality, “Stasia” is the beloved daughter of doting parents who spare no expense in supporting her ambition and talent.  Adoring not just their daughter but also one another, their home is full of celebration, warmth and love.

In another reality, “Ana” washes dishes at a nursing home to buy her carefully-budgeted art supplies, waiting until her alcoholic father passes out before creeping downstairs to paint.  Ana must survive her father’s nightly verbal abuse without any help from her silent, cowed mother, until she can retreat to the only place she feels safe, in front of her easel.

In Ninya’s mesmerizing serial novel, Stasia’s and Ana’s stories alternate, coming together to describe the crucial turning points in Anastasia’s life.  She has a gift for compelling storytelling, building nuanced characters and relationships while carrying the reader breathlessly through the life of one woman, but two very different lives.

How much of who we are comes from inside, and how much from our experiences?  What happens to potential when it is nurtured versus stifled? Is innate ability enough to negate early disadvantages, or is that life forever stunted?  Ninya’s innovative story explores the difference that a loving, caring upbringing makes in the opportunities granted and choices made.

Rated R for Profanity. No Explicit Sex Scenes.

Ninya

I was born on July 11, making it easy for potential mates to remember my birthday (There’s a 7/11 right there……) You get extra points if you know what musical that line is from. Named after one of my mom’s friends dogs, I am one of 5 kids born into a catholic family.

When I was 7, I vividly remember my sister Kesha and I sitting on our quilt covered bunk beds writing little stories for hours. (Yes she is the lucky one because a pop star made her name so recognizable that people could actually pronounce it correctly the first time.) Hey, we didn’t have a lot of things, so the imagination was an amazing place to concoct a life we wanted.

Friends Don't Let Friends Stay Vanilla

Desperate times…call for sexy solutions.

Aimee is panicking, feeling like a middle-aged failure, barely scraping by, raising a teenager alone. She is also a submissive who yearns to be dominated in the bedroom.

Could she introduce couples to the BDSM lifestyle through a house party format? Instead of game night, it could be blindfolds and bite marks.

Scotland with a Stranger:A Memoir

“Who goes to Scotland for two weeks with a stranger they met over the internet?   I did.”

At forty-three, Ninya was depressed, out of shape, and filled with crippling anxiety after addiction, cancer, and divorce had destroyed nearly everything. One day, she received a message from a stranger. This woman offered to lead her on a self-healing trip hiking through the Scottish highlands.

It seemed like a sign.
